Barbaresco Bernardotti 1978, Guiseppe Mascarello
Ruby briljant farge med en overraskende mørk kjerne. Skuffende buljong og champignon på nesa som heldigvis blir borte etterhvert i glasset. En renere rødbærsfrukt kommer fram med klassiske toner av skogsbunn og varmsmørt tjære på gammelt treverk. Etterhvert en mer kompleks nese med hummus, soyasaus og modne bær. Utvikler seg til en stor vin ! For en utvikling i glasset ! Årgangen holder seg fremdeles godt. Vinmarken ble kjøpt av Ceretto i 1997 og tappes nå under vinmarksnavnet "Bernardot".  93-96 poeng

Barbaresco Sorì Tilden 1981, Gaja
Mørk og typisk farge for produsenten.Tørket frukt, nedfallsløv i en intens og pen nese. Dyp frukt for en mellomårgang dette. Stor nese, semi-kompleks munnfølelse, røykbål og god syrestruktur. Litt volatil finish, og endimensjonal i ettersmak. Men en veldig god vin for årgangen. 92 poeng

Gaja sier dette om årgangen; in 1981, we vinified only 25% of the crop. I remember that we started the harvest at the end of October and by November 3rd we had snow that completely covered the vineyard. We had to wait nine to ten days for the snow to melt. But the grapes were not ripe. Harvest was over by November 15 or 17. But it was so late

Barbaresco Crichet Paje 1978, Roagna
Dette er en av mine favorittviner og 1999 er helt legendarisk. Men denne var dessverre korket og oksidert med søppel og råtne blåskjell og "you name it" ! Liver er urettferdig ...

The name Crichet Pajé comes from the Piemontese dialect. When the Italian State was created, each parcel of land was given an official name.The word Crichet is translated as “top of the small hill”. This is our ultimate location for the cultivation of Nebbiolo. The Nebbiolo grape performs best when it is well exposed as well as sheltered from the strongest winds from the tallest hills; Pajé term refers to the vineyard location.Crichet Pajé is a micro parcel located within the same area, which is particularly rich in white calcareous soil and has our highest content of active limestone. The Paje vineyard is 0.5 Hectare (1.24 Acres) with a unique microclimate and soil which enjoys a view over the Tanaro river valley. The exposition mitigates the cold winters and hot summers. The vineyard is located in the center of the Pajé designated area with additional area facing Southwest.The youngest vines used for this wine are more than 60 years-old with all vines regenerated by using clippings from other vines exclusively located within the same area.In fact, some of the vines have been propagated by using ungrafted vines. The older vines have reached a balance of optimum production even though some plants produce only a single cluster during some years.This wine is born from the experience over many years by Giovanni Roagna. After purchasing the vineyard in 1953, Giovanni spent many years of experimentation in order to seletec this unique terroir. Over the years this wine was aged for as long as it needed in orer to reach maturity and the wine was saved for the family as well as used for important events. In 1978, Alfredo Roagna decided to present Crichet Pajé to the marketplace for the first time. Crichet Pajé requires long aging in large oak barrels and is introduced to the marketplace approximately 10 years after being harvested. Our family believes this is the ultimate expression of our cellar because we value highly complexity and longevity in our wine. We harvest the nebbiolo fruit manually using small crates during the month of Octoberand usually in the morning, once the fruit is perfectly ripe. We make two passes in the vineyard to select the fruit and ensure its’ integrity. Fermentation takes place for ten days and we use exclusively large wood casks thanks to our pied de cute with our indigenous yeasts. We then follow the ancient technique of maceration by splinting the submerged cap which can last for two and a half months (80-90 days).The wine is then aged in neutral oak barrels. The production of bottles is extremely small, in some years we produce fewer than one-thousand bottles. The maximum production is just over two-thousand bottles.

Sassicaia 1982, Tenuta San Guido
Klassisk bordeaux på nesa med kaffe, mokka og cassis. Mørk kjerne med ruby/vandig kant. Sedertre med hult mellomparti og litt tam konsentrasjon. Samler seg i "nedslaget" og blir bredere i munnen. God balanse, fresh i munnen, men noe endimensjonal for en høyere poengsum. 93 poeng.

Barbaresco 1978, Albino Rocca
Klassisk, ruby-granatrød, blank i konsistensen med nype, skogsbunn og våt ullsokk. Lett volatil, utviklet, bra syre, elegant stil og en smule nervøs. Men årgangen  hjelper den nok litt. 91 poeng.

Angelo Rocca døde i en flystyrt i 2012. Vi møtte en av døtrene Daniela på restauranten !

Barolo Otin Fiorin Pie Franco 2005, Cappellano
Kirsebær, briljant rød, energisk og ren. Gode og solide tanniner. En klassisk og ren nebbenese. Floral, fioler og sursøt. En tilgjengelig årgang, men kan fremdeles ligge. 93 poeng.


Igjen hvit trøffel på alle rettene; også på pannacotta`en !

Cote Rotie La Turque Cote Brune 1990, E. Guigal

Sursøt og kompleks med gjenkjennelig sure metalliske mørke bær ala Cote Brune. Men dette var såpass modent at ingen tok denne som en Cote Rotie ! Alle trodde dette var en 80-talls Bordeaux… Superb tanninkvalitet med tydelig kaffe og mokkatoner. Litt «mekka» vin iht. Are som synes denne ble for hardt eiket og toastet. Men vinen har utrolig nok spist opp mesteparten av hele 42mnd på ny eik ! Uendelig lang ettersmak, som kom seg veldig i glasset. I karaffel 2t. før smaking. Som burde vært 20t ! En stor vin. Jeg ga den 97 poeng, mens fellesdommen ble 96 poeng. Morsomt at en Rhone-vin kan hevde seg såpas høyt i dette selskapet.

 The 1990 La Turque offers an opaque purple color, and an overwhelming perfume of jammy black cherries, cassis, toast, and minerals. With its sweet, generous, incredibly harmonious personality, it is an unforgettable wine.With sweet tannin, low acidity, and one of the most velvety-textured, decadently rich palates I have encountered, this fabulous wine has a finish that lasts more than a minute. Sassicaia 2001, Bolgheri

Litt varm valpo-aktig frukt. Vinen tørrer en del og vi var innom Bordeaux. Tørrer på finish og vi strevde med å finne opprinnelsen på denne. Solmoden, samtidig litt grønne tanniner. Rik, men vinen sitter ikke godt i munnen. Bør fortsatt lagres. 93 poeng

Chateau Leoville Lascases 1985, St. Julien

Myk vin, fløte i munnen, snill og balansert. Elegant, men samtidig en «lascasisk» mørk frukt som gjør motstand. En god floralitet som jeg synes er typisk for årgangen. Tydelig vestside og vinen drikker optimalt nå. Gode 1985 røde bordeaux er kraftig undervurdert. Har en magnum i kjeller`n ! 0,75 bør drikkes nå. 95 poeng

 

Chateau Haut Brion 1985, Graves

Fragrant og pen nese med snev av brettomyces og fjøs. Tydelig bordeaux med en xtra dimensjon; vinen har et godt og friskt «løft» i munnen som kompenserer for en bretty nese. Floral og en vin i full harmoni. Utvikler seg i glasset med skogsbunn, morkler og tobakk. Fremdeles har vinen et slepent elegant tanninrasp og jeg gjettet Pichon Lalande. Jeg har alltid vært imponert av Chateau Haut Brion 1985 og La Misson Haut Brion 1985 og denne vinen kan fremdeles lagres. Men det er nok en del flaskevariasjon nå. Pga. brett «modererte» jeg meg til 94 poeng, men de andre bidro til at dette ble RED WINE OF THE YEAR 2016 med 96 poeng ! Gratulerer til Jon som hadde med denne vinen !

Barolo Riserva Monfortino 1999, Giacomo Conterno

Mørk rød farge med vandig kant. Voldsomme tanniner og tørrer på finish i en ultrafrisk sursøt stil.  Skiller seg tydelig ut i rekka som en solid nebbevin. Bør lagres. Ikke antydning til tjære/nyper eller utviklede aromaer. Solid og en kraftplugg av en vin. Men vinen er for tøff nå og vi diskuterte om dette blir for voldsomt eller ikke. Og om den vil utvikle seg positivt. Monfortino har en imponerende kapasitet mht. lagring som få andre. Så dette blir nok bra. Men da er vi pensjonister….94 poeng

I have always had a big crush on the 1999 Monfortino. Here it is the combination of sensual, virtually intoxicating perfume, focused fruit and structure that stands out most of all. The 1999 is naturally quite young, especially from magnum, but it is a head-turning beauty. I remember giving the 1999 a huge score when it was first released and going long on the wine. I am glad I did. In time, the 1999 will take its rightful place among the greatest Monfortinos ever made. Actually, it already has. Tasted from magnum. The 1999 Barolo Riserva Monfortino takes things to another level, hard as that may be to believe. It is deeply expressive in its aromatics, with breathtaking nuances of roses, menthol, spices and licorice that emerge from the glass, melding seamlessly onto the palate where complex layers of dark ripe fruit captivate the taster in an endless counterpoint of aromas, flavors and sensations that are hard to fully capture with mere words. Boasting much intensity and a more full-bodied structure than the 1998, with building tannins that define the eternal finish, it is wine to taste now and over the next 6-9 months before it begins to shut down. Sampled from both bottle and magnum, it is a remarkable wine in every way, and is sure to take a place among the great Monfortinos of all time. Those fortunate enough to own Monfortinos from the recent string of vintages dating back to 1995 as well as the equally promising 2000 and 2001 will no doubt enjoy debating the merits of these remarkable wines for years and decades to come. Chateau Leoville Lascases 1989, St. Julien

Floral, delikat og mere purpur tone enn 85`. Cassis, herreværelse og stillestående myrvann på nesa. Rik og klassisk i munnen. Fast og solid med en sexy 89 duft. Tørrer litt på finish, og jeg er usikker på lagringskapasiteten. 1989 var et varmt år der modningen skjedde raskt med en dertil supertidlig innhøstning. Blir kanskje ikke bedre ?  95 poeng

Blåbær, dyp og intens farge, portvinsaktig nese, varm stil, jeg spurte Karl Kristian om dette var en optimal flaske og han mente det. Fruktig og saftig, men "varmskjæret" forstyrrer endel. Vinmarken ligger inne i Bolzano by. Lagring på botte / slavonsk eik. 86 poeng


Corton Hospices de Beaune 1982, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils 
Flat eldre vin uten tanniner. Flere dro til Piemonte. Endel rødbærsfrukt, men lagringsaromaene er på kanten nå. Tørrende og litt volatilt. Tappet for Vinmonopolet AS. 85 poeng


Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 1999, Alain Hudelot-Noellat 
Endel bitter og undermoden frukt. Kjølig frukt med solid struktur. Tørker ut i finish. Flere var i Piemonte også på denne. Igjen en skuffende Vougeot. 84 poeng


Barolo Cascina Francia 1998, Giacomo Conterno 
Transparent grønn og undermoden. Syrerik med lakris og korn. Urtete, stilkete og tørrer på finish. Veldig frisk, men en forferdelig dårlig Cascina Francia. Forhåpentligvis bedre med lagring. 83 poeng

Tydelig eik på nesa og heltre parkett i munnen. Vanskelige tanniner. Svir i munnen. Blir dette bra ? 82 poeng

Barolo Riserva Rocche dell`Annunziata 2000, Paolo Scavino
Voldsom solmoden frukt, tørrer ut i munnen og i finish, Frisk og god syre, men ubalansert. Vandig kant med 15% alc. 87 poeng.

Solid og mørk farge, litt sliten frukt. God harmoni, røff og moden syrah. God vin til mat.

 Beginning to reveal considerable secondary nuances and color development. Opaque purple/garnet with a touch of amber at the edge, this sexy, rich effort is more pleasurable aromatically than on the palate. However, it possesses multiple dimensions as well as abundant aromas of cedar, damp forest, spice box, and Asian spices. The soaring bouquet suggested the wine was more mature in flavor than it turned out to be. The wine is dense, with a firm, noticeably tannic edge, full body, and concentrated, powerful flavors. It is a classy, understated La Chapelle that requires another 5-6 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2025

Opulent med fortsatt mye trøkk. Utrolig 99 poengs nese, men litt lett i munnen etter den fantastiske nesa. Noe trang og grønn. Kanskje ikke det helt store potensiale mht. lagring og vinen drikker godt nå. Noe smør og en tydelig moden Cabernet. Vellykket vs. årgangen for røde viner i Toskana.
91-93 poeng.

Owner Niccolo Incisa della Rocchetta says that Sassicaia is always great in years that end with eight: 1958, 1968, 1978, 1988, 1998, and 2008.


Chateau Ausone 1988, St. Emilion
Lett i munnen, på grensen til en vandig munnfølelse og en gjenkjennelig Merlotstruktur. Grønn og undermoden fruktkarakter, paprika og den mangler wow-faktor. Som så mange andre Ausone`r.  Men vinen har bra syre og det er ikke noe spesielt galt med den. Den er bare litt kjedelig. 91 poeng

"Made when the château supposedly produced exciting wines, this is rather simple, with berry and tobacco character, full body and velvety tannins. Austere and slightly dry on the finish?? - WS"


Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1988, Pauillac
Leskende lett i en solid stil. Gode og litt tørre tanniner som er ganske typisk for årgangen for rød Bordeaux. Men vinen har en xtra dimensjon og eleganse. En av de beste 1988 Bordeaux, men ikke verdt prisen. 94 poeng.

1988 Château Lafite Rothschild

Cassis, cedar, tobacco, graphite, earth and spice on the nose. The wine is full bodied, concentrated and still tannic. The fruit is best described at noble. You can sense its good breeding. But there is an austerity and a hint of under ripeness in the finish that takes away from the wine. The long, rich, cassis and rhubarb filled finish is joy, but the sense of under ripeness takes away from the pleasure. Fans of older, more traditional, less ripe wines will like this more than I did. 94 points - Tasted Jan 4, 2010

With spicy cassis, cigar box, and earthy scents, this full bodied, concentrated wine remains tannic. The style combines regal fruit with some lean qualities. The long blackberry and cassis finish shows a touch of green. Give it another 5 years. 93 points - Aug 9, 2008

Rich, big, ripe, bold, sophisticated, Cabernet fruit with smoky cassis, tobacco and spice tones. This concentrated, full bodied wine fills your palate with dark ripe berries and tannins. This has class and breed, but the finish shows signs of not being fully ripe with hints of green in the ending notes. 94 points - Tasted Aug 15, 2007
