Solid og mørk farge, litt sliten frukt. God harmoni, røff og moden syrah. God vin til mat.

 Beginning to reveal considerable secondary nuances and color development. Opaque purple/garnet with a touch of amber at the edge, this sexy, rich effort is more pleasurable aromatically than on the palate. However, it possesses multiple dimensions as well as abundant aromas of cedar, damp forest, spice box, and Asian spices. The soaring bouquet suggested the wine was more mature in flavor than it turned out to be. The wine is dense, with a firm, noticeably tannic edge, full body, and concentrated, powerful flavors. It is a classy, understated La Chapelle that requires another 5-6 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2025 

Sassicaia 1988
Opulent med fortsatt mye trøkk. Utrolig 99 poengs nese, men litt lett i munnen etter den fantastiske nesa. Noe trang og grønn. Kanskje ikke det helt store potensiale mht. lagring og vinen drikker godt nå. Noe smør og en tydelig moden Cabernet. Vellykket vs. årgangen for røde viner i Toskana.
91-93 poeng.

Owner Niccolo Incisa della Rocchetta says that Sassicaia is always great in years that end with eight: 1958, 1968, 1978, 1988, 1998, and 2008.


Chateau Ausone 1988, St. Emilion
Lett i munnen, på grensen til en vandig munnfølelse og en gjenkjennelig Merlotstruktur. Grønn og undermoden fruktkarakter, paprika og den mangler wow-faktor. Som så mange andre Ausone`r.  Men vinen har bra syre og det er ikke noe spesielt galt med den. Den er bare litt kjedelig. 91 poeng

Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1988, Pauillac
Leskende lett i en solid stil. Gode og litt tørre tanniner som er ganske typisk for årgangen for rød Bordeaux. Men vinen har en xtra dimensjon og eleganse. En av de beste 1988 Bordeaux, men ikke verdt prisen. 94 poeng.

1988 Château Lafite Rothschild

Cassis, cedar, tobacco, graphite, earth and spice on the nose. The wine is full bodied, concentrated and still tannic. The fruit is best described at noble. You can sense its good breeding. But there is an austerity and a hint of under ripeness in the finish that takes away from the wine. The long, rich, cassis and rhubarb filled finish is joy, but the sense of under ripeness takes away from the pleasure. Fans of older, more traditional, less ripe wines will like this more than I did. 94 points - Tasted Jan 4, 2010

With spicy cassis, cigar box, and earthy scents, this full bodied, concentrated wine remains tannic. The style combines regal fruit with some lean qualities. The long blackberry and cassis finish shows a touch of green. Give it another 5 years. 93 points - Aug 9, 2008

Rich, big, ripe, bold, sophisticated, Cabernet fruit with smoky cassis, tobacco and spice tones. This concentrated, full bodied wine fills your palate with dark ripe berries and tannins. This has class and breed, but the finish shows signs of not being fully ripe with hints of green in the ending notes. 94 points - Tasted Aug 15, 2007

Gylden gul, tydelig botrytis, noe grov og mangler eleganse. Slottet pleier å ha et godt syreløft som ikke denne vinen har. 90 poeng

Chateau Pavie 1990, Saint Emilion

Rik nese, mere mot solbær og vestside. Kraftpakke, mørk, muskuløs og klassisk. Urtepreg med typeriktig paprika. Tørrende tanniner som tyder på at vinen fortsatt kan lagres. Endel eik med saftig finish og god friskhet. Mangler litt kompleksitet, men viser en type Pavie som dessverre ikke lages lengre. 92 poeng.

Lars W; Blind. Deep fruit, some development, elegant smell; extreme length, but above this it is the intensity that carries the wine, almost peacock tail finish. Structured and fresh, well integrated tannins. (95 pts.)

Chateau Beausèjour Duffau-Lagarrosse 1990, Saint Emilion

Mørk vin med solbæris, intens, porty, shiraz og litt Grange aktig i stilen. Solmoden og rik, litt falbby og flat syre i munnen. Men samtidig silky, bløt og elegant. En utrolig konsentrert og deilig vin som mangler litt friskhet. Litt klumpete etterhvert i glasset. 100 poeng av Parker ? 100% ny eik ? Ekstrahert og rik. Deilig.

Lars W: Blind. Deeply colored, sweet-and-sour and a bit one-dimensional smell, lots of dark berries; quite long, more dark berries in the mouth, somewhat extracted, simple finish. (92 pts.)

Jordlig champignon, roquefort og det virker som flasken er strippet for frukt. Ikke vurdert.

Chateau Cheval Blanc 1990, Saint Emilion

Aromatisk nese med en særdeles elegant rødbærsfrukt. Cabernet (Franc?) , frisk frukt med lang ettersmak. En fantastisk leskende munnfølelse med jordbær og en Rousseauaktig eleganse. Lett trykk i munnen med superintegrerte tanniner. Perfeksjon på flaske. Intens og innsmigrende. Den mest elegante vinen i smakingen. 99 poeng.

Lars W: Blind. Structured and subdued on the nose, very elegant on the nose; in the mouth it is very fresh, some bell peppers, pronounced but well integrated tannins. Most balanced and elegant. Extraordinary complex finish. Long life ahead.(97 pts.)
