Deutz 1988 & 1989

93-95 poeng

Fra wine-pages.com:

Historically, the grapes for Lanson's vintage cuvée have come from its own vineyards, mostly grands crus, in six or more of the following villages: Ambonnay, Aÿ-Champagne, Bouzy, Mailly, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Verzenay, Verzy for Pinot Noir, and Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and, Oger, and Trépail for Chardonnay. Lanson owned one of the most impressive vineyard holdings in Champagne, with 210 hectares of prime sites, mostly built up by Victor and Henri Lanson in the 1930s. In December 1990, Lanson was purchased by LVMH, which stripped the company of its viticultural assets, selling on the brand and stocks to its current owners just four months later. Since Lanson had stressed the importance of its own vineyards for decades, it was inevitable that a questionmark would be raised over the quality and style of future vintages, but all such worries were laid to rest with the excellent 1995 and stunning 1996 vintages.

Champagne Brut Millèsime Brut 1989, Deutz

Flat med brun frukt. Nedfall/skrotepler, moden og dvask. Bruspulver, oksidert nese, smørkaramell og ingefærkjeks. Ikke en vellykket flaske. Retur. Ikke vurdert.

Fra wine-pages.com:

Vintage Brut Champagne: 1989

The middle year of the great trio of exceptional successive vintages, 1989 was marked by the Pinot Noir, which had a physiological problem, causing coloration in some of the cheaper, earlier-released Champagnes. Also, acidity was very low and pH high for such a hyped-up vintage (only 1999 has had worse readings in the last 20 years), consequently some Champagnes were too heavy and oxidative. Krug defied these vintage characteristics to produce an extraordinarily pale Champagne with acidity that is more reminiscent of 1988 than 1989. Very few truly great 1989s are commercially available.

93 poeng
